Famous online video streaming platform YouTube brings up the HD quality videos for its viewer's as it was unavailable from the first phase of lockdown.
YouTube has set once again to allow its users a High definition quality online video streaming. In india as it was available for only standard definition SD quality videos 420p during coronavirus pendemic but now Youtube has enabled viewing in HD, Full HD, and even 1080p on the mobile app. But you can only stream in HD if you are using WiFi. You won’t get the HD streaming experience if you are using your mobile data.
YouTube has brought back the services for all users across the country, you need not be a premium subscriber to view videos in HD quality.
If you moved to tap on the video settings the options displayed for video streaming quality144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, and 1440 as for now the Google has limited this services to the web version and the options available for mobile view are 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p with these Google may soon resume their services shortly.
In lockdown period the YouTube has announced that it will reduce the quality of video streaming for mobile users as to reduce the strain on internet networks as in the lockdown period everyone was forced to be in home.
Statement:
“We announced that we were temporarily defaulting all videos on YouTube to standard definition in the EU. Given the global nature of this crisis, we will expand that change globally,” a Google spokesperson had said. Google had also reduced the streaming rates in Europe as well.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) Has said the YouTube and other OTT platforms including the Netflix, Amazon and Disney hotstar to cut down high bandwidth streaming to reduce a sudden surge in usage due to lockdowns imposed across cities in India.
